The Skidmore Shop

Hate to see you go….

Yeah, it’s that time of the year when you have to start strategically plan how you’ll pack up all of your stuff and get it back home in one piece.  While we can’t actually help you pack your stuff, or move boxes, or even stand behind you with terrible suggestions on what the best approach is to get your 42” flat screen tv into the back of your car.  What we can do is let you know that we carry all of the supplies you’ll need to make that move.  Boxes, bubbles, totes, tape.  All that stuff.  We have it here at the SkidShop.

As for getting help, we suggest you buy a couple of pizzas and invite your friends over for free pizza.  Just don’t tell them about the moving/packing thing until they’re into their second slice.

I love my job at Skidmore!

But I have to admit, it was so incredibly hard to come into work today.  The weather in Upstate NY is absolutely amazing and all I wanted to do was put on shorts and a shirt, walk down to Uncommon Grounds, get an iced coffee and just sit on the patio and sip away while soaking up the sun.  But sometimes you don’t have a choice and you have to do what you have to do.

Get psyched Skidmore seniors.  Graduation is right around the corner.

FYI - Mad love for Spongebob.

Hello all, our good friend, Farmers Market Pete has lost his trusty old cell phone today during the SkidShop Farmers Market.  If you happen to find it, please turn it in to Campus PO.

Hey Skidmore seniors, I just did the math…

Commencement is only 30 days way (if you don’t count the weekends).  That’s not that far off.  Time to start thinking about purchasing your cap and gown.  Just head on over to www.bookstore.skidmore.edu to get started.

For all your environmentally friendly types, you’ll be happy to know that The Skidmore Shop has teamed up with Herff Jones to offer up a 100% recycled gown.  One cap and gown is equivalent to 29 plastic bottles.

  • Herff Jones caps and gowns are made of 100% recycled materials.
  • For every Renew gown made, 29 bottles are saved from the landfill.
  • The recycle program will give fabrics a second chance by recycling them back into Repreve® Fibers.
  • These fibers will then be used to manufacture new Renew caps and gowns for future graduates.
  • Give back with the Repreve program- enter the code FUTURE and choose your cause.

Best prices ever!!!

Hey everyone,

We have Josten’s on campus today showcasing the very unique Skidmore Class Ring.  Stop in and check it out, and if you get one today or tomorrow, you’ll get an amazing price.  I am not kidding about this.  Any type of joke would have been yesterday during April Fools Day.  Today is not April Fools Day, therefor, the deal is totally legit.

Hey there Skidmore Seniors, it’s that time of the year where we gently remind you that commencement is just a couple of months away.  Two months may seem like it’s far away, but if you subtract the weekends out of those two months, and the occasional “sick days”, Commencement is only about 40 days away.  So you might want to get a jump start on all things commencement.  Order your cap and gowns today!  Head on over to www.bookstore.skidmore.edu to get things started.

Buyback time and why you should sell your books back to The SkidShop

It’s Buyback time.  We know you have lots of choices, there’s all those sites on-line….but do you want to wait two weeks for your money?  There’s the kid down the hall who’s working for a company that claims they were started by students for students….but do you really think students are bankrolling that cash?  Of course not, it’s just a front for another corporation looking to work the shell game on you.

Is the SkidShop different?  We think so.  We work for Skidmore; and quite frankly, we’re here because of you.  Does that mean we are going to give 75₵ on the $1.00 for your books?  No, we can’t….it’s that whole economics thing you heard about in class.  But what we can promise is that we’ll give you the best price that we can, we will buy every one of your books, and we’ll have some fun in the process.  Look, your books are never going to be worth what you think they should….but is your used car?  Have you ever tried to sell your old computer?

Check our prices….we don’t hide them, they’re all right here.  We’ll give you cash to fold and put in your pocket, a box to pack your stuff in, and a shot at some pretty cool prizes.   If it’s a book we know will be used at Skidmore in the fall, we’ll keep it on campus and save someone a few bucks next semester.  Those are the promises that we’ll make to you….and we’ll keep them.  If you’d like to understand how textbook buyback works, stop in and talk to us.  We’ll gladly explain the process to you.

(@skidmorecollege) (@mbstextbook) The tower of boxes is almost at 10 feet high. We are gonna keep going until we hit the ceiling.

(@skidmorecollege) (@mbstextbook) We plan on handing out boxes to anyone who sells us back two textbooks. Who knows..maybe the box you get has a goodie in it.

We’re gonna do some stuff with this space and these boxes

Sometimes we do odd things in the SkidShop.  Like the time we moved racks of clothing around and started building a pyramid of boxes in the middle of the SkidShop.  Are you curious what we plan on doing with all these boxes?  You’ll find out soon enough.  In the meantime, it’s back to putting boxes together and some stacking.  Lots and lots of stacking.
